Next up, If you don’t already have an headphone amp and want an ‘OK’ starter amp that won’t break-the-bank, check out this one as it’ll work with devices up to ~300Ω impedance just fine. I’d pick up a set of those Velcro Cable Ties anyhow as they are the best, quickest, and cheapest ( $11.99 for 100 Pcs.), cable management solution I’ve found. Even if I’m plugging my speaker into a dedicated speaker line, and simply NOT USING my mic, like to just listen to some tunes, I will carefully use a Velcro Cable Tie to ensure my red (or pink) mic cable is out of the way, gently folded backwards, and not touching anything conductive. If you are plugging the green ‘speaker’ cable directly into a TRRS jack, you may be making unwanted contact, resulting in an unwarranted ground, crosstalk, etc. As you are probably aware, the TRRS has multiple conductors to allow for left and right channel audio, the mic, and a ground. any phone that still has a headphone jack, any DAC that allows for a TRRS connection, etc. In a nutshell, the PCV 05 allows you to plug in both the speaker and mic connectors to a standard 3.5mm TRRS connector, e.g. I purchased one with my headset as you’re gonna see in just a moment how valuable this little gem is! They work!įirst up is the Sennheiser PCV 05 Combo Audio Adapter for the PC37X (interestingly enough it comes packaged with the 38X, but I prefer the design of the 37X, and the HD 599 drivers simply kick ass and are worth a lot more when you think about the tremendous value that the 37X punches!) Right now it’s $14.45 on Amazon with Free Prime Shipping. I own all of the following products and tested them extensively. Next up, let’s talk about the most cost efficient products to enhance your experience. Either way, add that to your ‘to do’ list, you’re really gonna want to double check the hell outta your Sound Settings! There will still be a period of getting used to the new sound signature, albeit a much more comfortable one. Listening in pure stereo sounds awesome with these as they’re open back and designed to listen in pure stereo mode. Make sure you’re using the Stereo or Headphone option in your Sound Settings in the Control Panel. I should ask, are you used to gaming with any audio effects such as Virtual 5.1, Virtual 7.1, THX software, Creative Labs software, or the like? If so, DON’T! These cans are STEREO ONLY and the ‘less is more’ mantra totally applies! You‘ll definitely want to check your Sound Settings and remove any enhancements, virtual surround sound, or similar. This would let you plug in the cable from the stackmat timer into the microphone (pink) jack in the adapter and that SHOULD work.įirst, my pleasure, always enjoy helping out for the sake of just helping :) You might need a proper adapter like this: What happens if you partially plug in the cable directly to the laptop? You might have to move it a bit so it's loose or not fully plugged in, (and it won't hurt anything, the voltage is quite low and won't catch stuff on fire) to get the laptop to properly hear the output from the timer. It would likely react the same way if you plug the cable directly into the laptop. It LOOKS like it's a channel splitter, not a headphone/microphone splitter. Your splitter isn't going to fix that issue though. The issue comes in where the laptop isn't 'hearing' everything. The TRRS is used for headphones with a mic you have Ground, Left channel, Right Channel, Microphone. The problem (I'm guessing here) is that your laptop has a TRRS connection, but the cable being used is only TRS. If you listened with headphones, you can hear what's happening easily. Okay, so the stackmat timer outputs audio clicks which represents the data. But then I realized the headset came with a separate cable that already had them combined, so I'm using that instead. psc=1 The Game Zero's default cable has separate input and output cables but my laptop only has a combined port, so I was using that for a while. > What is the sound/mic combiner adapter you refer to? So there's definitely something else going on. But (just tested this morning) sometimes even when it's set to 0dB people can hear me. Defaults to 0, trying to keep it there (because then I don't key up), but sometimes on Discord people complain that they can't hear me and I turn it up. Sort of - in windows if you go to recording devices in sound options and go to the properties of the device, there's a volume slider (which is at 100), and also something labeled (I think) "decibel boost" with settings 0dB, 10dB, 20dB, and 30dB. Windows speaker or microphone volume levels?
